Greetings!

How many times have you hired a contractor that promised you the moon, and at best gave you a job that is far less than what you expected?  And on top of that you struggled with them every step of the way.

I have worked with many clients that have hired an unlicensed contractor, as well as licensed contractors to do work, and later found that they caused more damage than the original job costs.  Experience and time in the field is probably one of the most things overlooked by homeowners when looking for a contractor.

Just because a contractor carries a state license does not mean he is a capable contractor - experience and time in the field does!  Many “book pass contractors” with no experience in the field rely on their subcontractors to give them final product, and at that point you get what you got.

Take the time to look at some of their past jobs before committing a dime of your hard earned money to them. Speak to the homeowners.  Were they on time?  Did they keep the job on schedule?  Did they keep you informed of the progress of the renovation?  Did they keep the job clean?  Were you happy with the outcome?  These are some of the questions that need to be asked before committing to a contractor.

Please keep in mind that if you hire a contractor that is not licensed you are setting yourself up for a possible catastrophe.  Fire and water damage are two good reasons you should hire a licensed and insured contractor.  If your home catches fire due to a poorly wired or grounded circuit, the fire marshal will find the source and determine that the cause was due to poor workmanship, and your home owners insurance could decline your claim.

Make sure that your contractor pulls permits for your job. This protects you as a homeowner. This step insures that your project is being inspected by the local building department as the job progresses.

In closing I can tell you that there are more costs to doing things the right way, but in the long run piece of mind is golden.

I thank you for taking the time to visit my site and feel free to call.
